Besides, victims were killed in an armed attack attributed to separatists in the headquarter of the North West region.

Over the weekend, at least six people were victims of an attack by separatists in the city of Bamenda. Gunmen attacked a snack bar where around fifty people were gathered. According to local media, one of the targets was Nigerian actor Sylvester Madu, who had come to Cameroon with his crew to shoot his next film, Abakwa, about drug addiction.

The assailants first asked the promoter of the snack bar whether the Nigerian director who was present had paid the royalties that they had imposed on him and paid back in the form of taxes. Then they opened fire. Four people were shot dead on the spot. Two others died on the way to medical facilities. Many of those injured were also taken to Nkwen District and to the Bamenda Regional Hospitals. Some have been stabilised and returned to their homes.

Saturday’s massacre in Bamenda comes four days after nine people were killed in the Bamenyam community in Galim subdivision in Bamboutos division of the West region. This was followed within the same week by the murder of the Director of the Bilingual high school of Kumbo, the murder of a student at a secondary school of Bamenda and the murder of the vice mayor of the Balikumbat community.
