She is the winner of several prizes like Erasmus, PON scholarships, Scholarship of Excellence from the Cameroonian Government and recently won the Back to Zero Awards to be a TedX Speaker. – Bridging the gap between the rich and the poor is a core motivation for 23 year old Myriam Nakita Bossogueno Aboya.

In today’s world where the poor are getting poorer and the rich are getting richer, Nakita has dedicated herself to work on fiscal policies, inequality and poverty with top organisations like the UN and the World Bank in bridging the gap between the rich and the poor. As a UN worker, she analysed the resilient capacities of 10 countries in the African Union using an advanced and new economic methodology and later on worked on the agricultural data of 81 countries under the very prestigious Statistics Department that produces internationally known data for FAOSTAT. ‘’ I worked on the data digitalisation and harmonisation of more than 81 countries around the world’’, she tells JDC. We noted that these data are under the World Census of Agriculture published every ten years and can be found in the Food and Agriculture Organization Corporate Statistical Database (FAOSTAT). At the World Bank, she worked in the Macroeconomics, Trade and Investments Unit where she contributed through her expertise on topics involving fiscal policy.

Nakita Aboya has been engaged in various humanitarian activities such as blood donation, philanthropy and education. Nakita believes every human has the right and deserves to receive quality education. She participated recently in the Nelson Mandela Day in Rome during which she called on everyone to take part in the fight against poverty and inequality quoting Mandela words; ‘Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity, It is an act of justice, It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life’.

In 2020, the Harvard/MIT mentoring program matched her to Antoine Boris Levy who has also had a brilliant academic path and did his PhD in the prestigious MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).

Interested in the intersection between Macroeconomics and Development Economics, she continues to fly Cameroon’s flag high as she engages into more research programmes as a year 3 Phd student, the research is carried out between Paris and Rome.

Having a rich educational portfolio at 23 year old was definitely nursed by a speedy and determine educational parcour. Nakita Aboya was born in Yaounde , Capital of Cameroon. She did her middle and high school at Lycee General Leclerc. Ranked as a high potential Individual, she skipped 3 classes namely Class six, form four , and lower sixth. She got her BEPC in form three and her Probatoire in form five, hence, obtaining her Baccalaureat at 14 years old before enrolling into the faculty Economics of the University of Yaounde II Soa .

By 17, she grabbed her Bachelor degree and next a master degree in economics from Yaoundé II and a second one from the University of Rennes1- in France.

Thanks to an Italian competitive scholarship, at 20, she got into a PhD Economics program at la Sapienza university, which is one of the biggest and ancient universities in Europe.

The next year, she landed into the Paris School of Economics, known to be the 5th best university in Europe and met with economics Icons such as Thomas Piketty , Francois Bourguignon and Philippe Aghion who agreed to be a co-director for her PhD.
Her economics interests lies in the intersection of fiscal policies, poverty and inequality.

She remains steadfast to her dreams, during one of her interviews for FAO and available through the FAO intranet, she mentioned continuing her career in an international organisation such as the World Bank , the IMF , or the UN. Nakita is a force to reckon with and a youth who is to be emulated.
