The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development granted an audience to the president of Korea Rural Community Corporation, Lee Byung-ho.

The Korea Rural Community Corporation will share its rice production experience with Cameroonian farmers. This was announced by its president last Friday during an audience with the Minister of Agriculture, Gabriel Mbaïrobe.

This initiative is part of a project already underway in several African countries. The aim is to achieve food sufficiency by increasing rice production. This is in line with the ongoing irrigation rice culture programme. A programme in which Cameroon has benefited from Avangane seeds and, according to the Minister of Agriculture, is helping to produce 2000 tons of seeds every year.

Lee Byung-ho, president of the Korea Rural Community Corporation, said productivity will rise through seed improvement, as it is done in his country, which experienced for 40 years rice scarcity. He added that mechanisation and staff training will also help to boost rice production.

Also present at the audience was the South Korean Ambassador to Cameroon, Jonghan Kim.
