According to the local administration, separatists executed two people in Guzang village of last October  4.

According to a press release issued by the Senior divisional officer of the Momo division, Benoît Nicaise Fouda Etaba, “armed terrorists” entered the village of Guzang and abducted two civilians from their home. They then “summarily shot them in the marketplace”. The scene unfolded in front of a crowd of people who were unable to intervene in the victims’ defence. The two executed were the younger brother of the traditional chief of Guzong village and a shopkeeper. The separatists accused them of collaborating with elements of the Cameroon Defence Forces operating in the North West region. For almost seven years, these regular forces have been fighting the separatists. The former say they are protecting property, people and the integrity of the territory. The latter claim to be fighting for the independence of the two English-speaking regions, using terrorist methods against civilians, especially government employees, teachers and schoolchildren.
