Francis Ngannou’s nomination as godfather of the National Extra-curricular Sports Games was confirmed after he was granted an audience with the Minister of Youth last week.

“Your consideration goes straight to my heart. It is a pleasure for me to be the godfather of a project that supports young people,” said Francis Ngannou. These words came at the end of an audience granted to him by the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou. It was a few hours before the start of the first edition of the National Extra-curricular Sports Games (NESG). And it was to this end that the meeting between the two personalities took place. The purpose of the meeting was to hand to the boxer the official letter of nomination and a diploma in recognition of his commitment to the organisation of NESG.

The competition, which brings together around 2,000 young people from 10 regions, will end on 22 December. The theme of this year’s event is “Developing sports clusters: challenges and opportunities for empowering young people”.

For Francis Ngannou, promoter of the Self Believing concept, “It is important to believe in yourself. All our projects are possible. You have to believe in it, practice it and the rest will come with time.”
