The Minister of Territorial Administration met with Antic GM and other private mobile operators companies last April 2024.

According to the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, 450 unregistered SIM cards were seized from separatist fighters in the North West and South West regions. He says they are being used for ransom, extortion and outright threats. A situation that is also occurring in the Adamawa region. It is within such a frame that he warned MTN and Orange Cameroon about unidentified SIM cards. This came during a meeting with officials of the two companies and the General Manager of ANTIC, Dr Ebot Enaw Enaw.

The Minister says the companies are not respecting the roles and registrations that govern the country and the acquisition of telephone sim cards. He said the companies have 60 days to comply by providing a complete list of those selling their products, those operating mobile money transactions mainly in the NoSO, saying secessionist fighters are using these platforms to defraud people. The meeting was also an opportunity to sensitise the companies on the gravity of insecurity committed with unregistered sim cards obtained from MTN and Orange Cameroon.
