The explosion took place on February 11, 2024 after the parade at the Nkambe square.

A homemade bomb exploded in Nkambe in the North West region last February 11. It took place two hours after the parade. According to the administrative authorities, the explosive device had been hidden in a food stall close to the square where the festival was held.

One person was killed and around forty injured, four of them seriously, according to region Governor, Adolphe Lélé Lafrique. The injured have been taken to the regional hospital of the town. After the explosion, the Divisional Officer, Georges Emmanuel Bassilekin, chaired an emergency meeting. During the meeting, he called on the population to be vigilant and cooperate with the defence and security forces. And also, to report any suspicious persons.

The defence and security forces have arrested three suspects, who are currently in custody, in their search for the perpetrators of this deadly incident.
