The decision, dated 26 February 2024, was made public in a note signed by the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi.

According to Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, minister of Public Works, the decision to terminate the deal with Bofas sarl regarding the Babadjou-Bamenda road Section 3: Bamenda up-hill station bypass (4.930km) was taken because of delays in carrying out the works. In his decision, the Minister explains that “the company’s failure to perform results from the inconclusive evaluation of the requirements of the service contract, which is formally terminated … as a consequence of the failure to comply with the contractual obligations” and “the abandonment of the work“.

The rehabilitation of the Babadjou-Bamenda road (almost 52 km) on the Yaoundé-Enugu corridor (on the Nigerian border) is financed by the World Bank at a cost of CFAF 110 billion.

This is the second contract that has been withdrawn from Bofas company. Last November, its contract to build the 49 km Esse-Soa road was cancelled. Once again, the reason given was that the delivery schedule had not been met. The contract was then worth 29.8 billion CFA francs.
