It was while he was in his convoy that the civil administrator and five other people were kidnapped by the separatists.

The Bamenda 2 Divisional Officer, Nkongho Manchang, was travelling to Nkambe last Tuesday for the installation ceremony of the new Senior divisional officer. When his convoy reached the Ndu sub-division, it was intercepted by unidentified assailants.

The five people in the convoy with the divisional officer were forcibly abducted by the assailants, who are suspected to be linked to separatist groups.

Only the divisional officer’s car was found abandoned and empty on the road, a security source told Cameroon News Agency. The identities of the other victims, apart from that of Nkongho Manchang have not yet been revealed.
