Chairing the opening plenary for the June session, the House speaker condemned the crisis rocking the North West and South West region.

 

According to the National Assembly the various abduction cases which took place in the North West and South West regions are simply heinous actions. This statement was made known during the opening plenary session by the President of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril.

He used this June opening session of June to condemn the abduction of women in the Mezam Division of the North West Region on May 20, 2023 and six other compatriots in the Momo Division of the South West Region on May 21, 2023 by separatist fighters.

The speaker of the National Assembly also disapproved the collection of taxes by such groups, an action he says portrays Cameroon as a State within a State. The Highly honrouble stressed on national unity. He also saluted government’s response strategies againt epidermics and treatment administered to cholera patients. Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril presented actions of lawmakers during the inter session while appreciating the return to normalcy after stand offs between teachers’ trade unions and government authorities in previous years. The opening plenary was in the presence of members of government led by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute and members of the diplomatic corps.
