The notorious separatist ‘general’ was killed along with two associates during a military operation on May 5 in Bamunka village, Ngoketunjia division in the North West region.

In a video posted on social media, the bodies of the separatist fighters’ leader:  ‘General’ Sagon and two other fighters can be seen in front of heavily armed soldiers, watched from a distance by the local population. They were killed during a military operation which took place last May 5 in Bamunka village, Ngoketunjia division.

General Sagon took over from another separatist General, No Pity, who was in command of the whole of the Ngoketunjia division in the North West region.

He was one of those who helped No Pity launch a deadly attack on soldiers in the village of Bamessing in 2021 killing 16 soldiers.

The six-year-old separatist conflict in the English-speaking regions of Cameroon continues. An Anglophone leader is calling on the international community to put pressure on the regime in Yaoundé to end the war, as NGOs and other organisations continue to warn of a worsening humanitarian situation.
