At least three security officers were injured in Wum, headquarters of the Menchum division in the North West region on Tuesday following an attack by armed gunmen, sources have confirmed.

According to credile sources on the ground, the attackers suprised the security officers along the Wum-Bamenda road injuring a policeman and other gendarme officers.

The attackers equally set fire on a gendarmerie pick up before carting away into the forest with weapons and amunition.

This is the latest attack on security officers in Wum after a police officer had his head chopped off two weeks ago in Wum. Security has been on red alert in Menchum division of late following several attacks by armed men in the area.
