Israël Mouyokouop, a witchdoctor who claims to be leader of a spiritual consortium is demanding the Minister of Sports and Physical Education should pay him for the Indomitable Lions’ success at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. He also claims to be the hidden hand behind Cameroon’s triumph in the 2000 Olympic Games, 2000, 2002 AFCONs and the 2003 Confederations Cup.
The so-called sorcerer told a local French language newspaper, Le Point that the sports ministry stroke a deal with him. He claimed he was to be paid 100million FCFA each time Cameroon won a trophy in any football tournament. Going by his narration, he engineered Cameroon’s debacle in the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations when government failed to pay him for the victories Cameroon recorded in the Sidney 2000 Olympic Games, and two previous AFCON tournaments.
Seemingly to answer the obvious questions as to why he came back in 2017 after the national football team’s disgraceful performances in recent tournaments, he said he had a change of heart. He said he decided on his own to let his spiritual consortium work in favour of Cameroon during the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.
As to how his cohort of sorcerers helped Cameroon emerge victorious to grab its fifth AFCON tittle, Wizard Mouyokouop said his fellow necromancers casted a spell of darkness and coldness on the Pharaohs of Egypt, making it difficult for them to play efficiently.
Besides supposed powers to facilitate victories in football matches, the magician also claimed to have spells that can do other things. He made it clear that his request for payment is not a plea and threatened to cast a curse of misfortune on Ishmael Bidoung Kpwatt, Minister of Sports and Physical education if he is not paid. He promised he would thereafter cause the sacking of the minister from government if ignored further.
