It has been close to a year of waiting, uncertainty and anxiety, but the winner of the 2017 Mutzig Star Contest, Vanessa Monjoa, Saturday, April 14, 2018, finally received her coveted trophy from Cameroon’s foremost brewery company, Les Brasseries du Cameroon.

Her long awaited prize, a brand new Suzuki car, was handed over to her by the Les Brasseries du Cameroon Heineken Country Manager, Celestin Mbahizimana, in a grandiose and colourful ceremony in Limbe in the company of the South West Regional Branch Manager of Mutzig, Christoph Bitom, the South West Regional Manager of Les Brasseries, Leonard Kemgang and other top brass of the company.

The car keys were handed over to the winner alongside all the car documents.

During the handing over ceremony, Les Brasseries authorities boasted that for over  a quarter of a century, the Mutzig Star Contest has not only remained true to its objectives, but it has been an avenue for bringing  budding artists to the limelight.

According to officials of Les Brasseries artists like Longue Longue, Emmanuel Kimbi and today Vanessa Monjoa are testaments to how much the competition has evolved over the years.

23-year-old Vanessa Monjoa was chosen among some 3000 contestants in 2017 by a jury headed by ace Makossa Singer, Manu Dibango, after she thrilled both the audience and the jury with her song, The Boss for My Lane.

Speaking at the event, Vanessa said: “I am very happy today. It’s a privilege for me. Among the 3000 contestants, I was privileged to be the winner. So I thank God,” she said.

Commenting on her track the Boss for my lane, Monjoa said she is trying to advice young girls and boys, alike, not to depend on their girl or boy friends’, but to try and be dependent on Christ and themselves.

She advised her peers to avail themselves in things that will give them value tomorrow.
