Part of the roof of the Limbe Omnisports stadium in the South West region of Cameroon has been blown off by heavy winds.
Heavy rains accompanied by a strong storm blew off part of the roofs of the stadium which is one earmarked to host matches for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
The stadium was already set aside as one of the sites readdy to host the Africa Cup of Nations later this year before the hosting right was stripped from Cameroon.
The last inspections missions from the Confederation of African Football, Caf did not go there as inspectors said the stadium was ready to host the competition.
It was equally one of the sites that hosted the 2016 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and has been earmarked as one of the stadiums to host the African Nations Championship in January 2020.
It is not yet clear when works will start to fix the roof that has been taken off by the winds.
