The World Bank has appointed Ms. Anne-Lucie Lefebvre as its Resident Representative in Guinea-Bissau, effective May 1, 2021, according to a press release shared with APA on Wednesday.Ms. Lefebvre’s priorities will be to develop and maintain a strong partnership with the government of Guinea-Bissau, oversee the development of a solid country programme based on the Country Partnership Framework and its adaptation to the evolving context of the country and foster strong working relationships with development partners in the West African country.

The World Bank’s portfolio in Guinea-Bissau includes 10 projects (6 national and 4 regional) for a total commitment of $ 322.11 million. 

This reflects, according to the statement, the strong support by the WB to the country’s development programme, with 58 percent of investments in the water and electricity sectors, followed by human development (22%), digital development (11%), transport (5%) and agriculture and food (4%).

Ms. Lefebvre, a Canadian national, joined the Bank in 2009 as Senior Public Sector Specialist in the Africa region. 

She brings significant operational experience having led or contributed to analytical work in Morocco, Algeria, Madagascar, Comoros, Burundi, Vietnam, Tanzania and Mali.

 As Senior Public Sector Specialist in Morocco, her last position before moving to Bissau, she led a multidisciplinary team to address cross-cutting governance issues.
