Two online activists in Cameroon have been summoned to appear before the judicial police in Bonanjo, Douala in the Littoral region.

Michel Biem Tong, freelance and  online journalist and Paul Chouta, blogger and activist would appear before the judicial police on Monday September 3 for a hearing.

Michel Biem, on Wednesday said he had not been officially served the summons but had learned about it on Facebook and would not be honouring the summons if he is not served a copy directly.

He accused a certain Hurbert Ateba of initiating the summons on grounds of an article published on the arrest of the concerned. Michel Biem added that most journalists who had written on Ateba’s arrest have equally been summoned.

“If for the journalist that publishing articles is committing an offense punishable by the Cameroonian Penal Code, so I’m ready to go to jail,”Miche Biem said.
