Security officers in Australia have launched a search to track down three Cameroonian athletes who have reportedly escaped from the Games village at the ongoing Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast in Australia.

Team Cameroon Manager Victor Agbor Nso confirmed to the media that three Cameroonian athletes have gone missing friom the Games village.

Weight Lifter Olivier Matam, and boxers Ndzie Tchoyi and Simplice Fotsala were no where to be found amongst the members of the Cameroonian delegation early this week.

The Australian police and security services were immediately alerted about their disappearance as the search intensifies to track them down.

One of the missing athletes was supposed to be on stage today to defend the national colours according to reports from Australia.

Cameroon’s Marcel Mayag this morning qualified for the finals of the men’s long jump while Mbebi Sandrine will be in competition later in the day. Abessolo Mbevina on his part has qualified for the finals of the 200m event with a personal best record of 23.77s.
