A taxi driver was at the weekend abducted along the Kumba-Ekombe road in the South West region by unknown gunmen, local sources say.

The driver is said to have been plying the road against the wish of Ambazonian fighters who had impose a ban on vehicle in the area in retaliation to the temporary ban imposed on bikes by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji.

According to information gleaned by this reporter, some gunmen sidetracked the cab driver into a forest in Diffa Village on the outskirts of Kake II.

The fighters who have vowed to enforce the “ban” if the government does not lift that on bikes, which they say is their only source of income, reportedly set ablaze three vehicles that attempted to ply that stretch of the road last week.

The events along that stretch of the road followed the kidnap to two Tunisian workers who were working along the Kumba –EkondoTiti Road.

The armed men reportedly swooped on the construction workers and carted them away alongside two Hilux vehicles.

Abductions seem to be gaining grounds in the long dragging conflict in the two English speaking regions of the country.

The Board Chair of the Cameroon General Certificate of Education Board, Professor Ivo Leke Tambo arrived Yaounde in the early hours of Tuesday after spending over 48 hours in captivity.

The Board Chair was captured on Saturday morning by gunmen in his hometown Lebialem as he was leading a delegation to organise a ceremony of gratitude to the Head of State for appointing two prominent sons from the Division.

The house of the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development was also set ablaze in violent incidents that took place in Lebialem at the weekend.
