Zimbabwe on Sunday parted ways with Croatian coach Zdravko Logarusic following a string of poor performances by the country’s senior men’s soccer team.Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) spokesman Xolisani Gwesela said the decision to sack Logarusic was arrived at at a meeting of ZIFA’s executive committee in Harare on Sunday.

“The Zimbabwe Football Association would like to inform the football fraternity and the nation at large that it has amicably parted ways with senior men’s team coach Zdravko Logarusic,” Gwesela said in a statement.

He revealed that the ZIFA board also decided to dissolve the entire Zimbabwe Warriors technical team whose other members included assistant coaches Tonderayi Ndiraya, Benjani Mwaruwaru and Lloyd Chitembwe.

The ZIFA technical development committee has been tasked to scout for an interim coach to take charge of the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers while a substantive coach is being sought after.

“The appointment of the interim technical team shall be announced in due course as the executive committee has already set in motion the process.”

Logarusic’s sacking comes in the wake of a poor run by the Warriors during which the Croatian has won just one match out of 14s, managing five draws and eight defeats since his appointment in January 2020.
