Precarious calm has returned to the city of Limbe in the South West Region after clashes between separatist fighters and security forces.
The confrontations started on Friday night as gunshots were heard at 10.00pm around Mile 4 at the entrance to the town forcing several businesses to close down and residents fleeing to their homes for safety.
Though it is still difficult to determine any exact casualty, the shooting continued on Saturday afternoon when the gunmen launched another attack on the town.
In the course of Saturday’s incidents, a truck transporting brewery products was set ablaze by the unidentified gunmen while several properties were damaged.
Security forces succeeded to push back the attackers who fled into the bushes before the road blocks which had been erected at the entrance of the town were cleared off.
Security has since been beefed up at the various check points in the town with a heavy deployment regular checks in town.
