One of the senior officers of Rwanda National Police (RNP), Commissioner of Police Christopher was appointed Monday as the new Chief of the Police Unit of the Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic
(MINUSCA), replacing French national, Major General Pascal Champion.According to a statement by the the Special Representative of UN Secretary-General in Central Africa Republic(CAR), Mankeur Ndiaye, the senior Rwandan Police officer’s experiences will be a definite asset in meeting the challenges inherent in the mandate of the UNPOL.

Prior to his appointment, Commissioner of Police Bizimungu, was a commandant of the National Police College based in Musanze, a district in Northern Rwanda.

He also occupied various positions as Director of Criminal Investigations Department in Rwanda National Police, and as Head of military prosecution in the Rwanda Defense Force (RDF) before joining police forces.

Rwanda is the first-largest police-contributing country to the UN peacekeeping operations in Central African Republic (CAR).

The contingents are charged with the protection of high profile officials, public order management, protection of internally displaced persons, key installations and infrastructures, patrols and escort duties, among others.
