Cameroon’s President Paul Biya, will today, March 15, 2018, chair an important Council of Ministers meeting.

The meeting to take place at the Unity Palace will be the first since the March 2 cabinet shake-up, which introduced new faces into top government cycle.

According to a release signed yesterday, the high-level meeting will be attended by the Prime Minister, his deputy, State Ministers, Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Secretaries of State. The meeting, which will begin at 11 am will focus on “the special message of the Head of State”, which is reportedly the only item on the agenda.

It would be recalled that, the last Minister’s Council meeting was held on October 15, 2015, shortly after the government’s cabinet shakeup of October 2 in the same year. During this meeting, Paul Biya had notably instructed his ministers to accelerate “preparations for the organisation of  Nations cup in 2016 and 2019”. The 2015 ministerial meeting was equally devoted to the Emergency Plan for the Acceleration of Growth in Cameroon.

Today’s meeting will be the first for newly-appointed ministers like Joseph Le, Gaston Eloundou Essomba, George Elanga Obam, Paul Tasong and Nalova Lyonga.
