Andre Nguidjol Nlend, Coordinator of the national team says the Indomitable Lion had a round ticket, but decided to postpone his flight
Andre Nguidjol Nlend, Coordinator of the national team who is being blamed for the embarrassment the team suffered in Brussels on March 28, has debunked reports that one of the players was left stranded in Belgium. The official of the sports and physical education ministry told press that Ambroise Oyono Bitolo’s flight ticket from Canada to Belgium and back, was paid on March 15.
Going by the coordinator, Oyongo Bitolo chose to stay a little longer in Brussels after their encounter with Guinea Bissau on March 28. He explained that players always receive round tickets when called up to participate in competitions. He said the tickets are sent to the players and their respective clubs as well; noting that if Bitolo did not have a round ticket, his club would not have permitted him to travel to Belgium.
Oyono Bitolo plays for Impact de Montréal football club in Canada. We gathered he was expected to take an Air Canada flight to Montreal from Brussels at about 10:45pm on March 29 to arrive at 7:30am.
Nlend said he spoke with the doctor of the national team who confirmed he had taken measures and insured that Oyongo Bitolo’s lodging is secured for him to travel to Montreal today March 30.
