Some 77,042 vulnerable households have already benefited from the Covid-19 solidarity fund released by the government, spokesman Sidi Tiémoko Touré said in Abidjan at the end of a Council of Ministers meeting on Wednesday.“43.47 percent of the 177,198 vulnerable households targeted by the transitional phase has been able to benefit from the assistance of the solidarity and emergency humanitarian support fund as of 15 June 2020,” Touré said.
The government spokesman was reporting on the implementation of the activities of the support funds set up by the state as part of the economic, social and humanitarian support plan to cope with the effects of the Covid-19.
He indicated that 18 companies domiciled in Abidjan and one in the interior of the country have benefited from the support fund for large enterprises, amounting to CFA 6.1 billion.
He added that “33 SMEs from the agro-industry, tourism, hotel, trade, transport, catering, etc., have benefited from the support fund for SMEs for an amount of 920.5 million CFA francs.”
Since the beginning of the Covid-19 health crisis in Cote d’Ivoire, the government has set up several funds to support the country’s business concerns against the pandemic.
