Cameroon’s under 23 lions have been eliminated form the U-23 African Cup of Nations ongoing in Egypt.

The boys of Coach Rigobert Song were defeated 2-1 yesterday by host country Egypt in a decisive match played at the Stade internationale du Caire.

Team Cameroon needed just a draw to qualify for the next round of the competition, a draw they maintained with Egypt during the first half of the game.

Egyptian Mostala Mohamed opened score for his country at the 27′. Ten minutes later, Eric Ayuk equalised for Cameroon.

Both teams went on recession on a 1-1 draw. The second half was not too good for the lions as they conceaded a second goal at the 50′, a hard trick from Mostala Mohamed.

The score remained 2-1 in favour of Egypt till the end of the match. This elimination deprives the U23 lions from participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
