Two suspected conmen have been arrested in Douala for allegedly extorting the sum of 12.5 million francs CFA from a Burkinabe diplomat.

Foka, 46 and Talla, 31, were presented to the press on Tuesday by elements of the judicial police in Bonanjo-Douala. The men are part of a group of four who had promised to multiply the diplomat’s money through a chemical that  washes off fake bank notes. After forcing the diplomat and squeezing out 12.5 million from him, the two were nabbed after the diplomat had alerted security forces when they came to collect another 4.8 million FCFA. Investigations have been opened to track down the other two who are on the run.
