The visit to London by President Julius Maada Bio to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Summit and local political happenings dominate the Friday edition of the Sierra Leonean press.President Bio has been holding several meetings with fellow leaders on the sidelines of the London summit and this has made it to the front pages of the some of the papers, like the Watch newspaper which leads with the story under the banner headline: ‘Bio attracts world leaders in London.’ The story is accompanied with a two separate photos of Bio standing with Presidents Mohammadu Buari of Nigeria and Paul Kagame of Rwanda.
The same story with the same headline appears on the front page of the Standard Times, whose lead story is ‘EDSA is broke.’ EDSA is the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority, which is undergoing a clampdown against government ministries, departments and agencies over non-payment of huge power bills.
