A new tobacco packaging policy was presented in Yaounde on June 7  by officials of the Ministry of Public Health. The new policy goes operational on January 3, 2019.

It was presented after a joint ministerial order on January 3, 2018 defining new packaging and labeling modalities for tobacco products in Cameroon. The new packaging policy comes as a means to dissuade tobacco consumers of the harmful effects of the product.
