A mine explosion which occurred yesterday June 20, along Gouza Vekret-Zamga in Cameroon’s Far North region has killed a Cameroonian soldier.

The soldier whose name Journal du Cameroun got as Amougou, was killed while on a foot patrol not far from the Nigerian border. According to online news reports, the explosion also wounded a second class soldier that was rushed to the Maroua regional hospital by a military plane.

Many suspect the explosion was planted by Boko Haram militants.
