Built on an area of 13,000 m², the park will be put into service by the airport at the end of October 2018.
Funded by the European Union, this solar park will have a production capacity of one megawatt. Indeed, it is built by the French company Sagemcom, as part of a program of the International Civil Aviation Organization (OACI) on reducing the carbon footprint.
Apart from the Douala platform, it is said that four other airports have been selected by Oaci as part of this carbon reduction program, which is still in its pilot phase. These include Kingston and Montego airports in Jamaica, Mombasa in Kenya and Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago.
