A total of 19 recently appointed senior officials of the Ministry of Decentralisation and Local Development (MINDDEVEL) were commissioned on Wednesday, November 28.
The officials were commissioned during a solemn ceremony on the premises of the National Advanced School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM), by Minister Georges Elanga Obam.
Decree No 2018/668 of November 8, 2018, signed by President Paul Biya, appointed an Inspector General in MINDDEVEL, while Decree No 2018/9163 of November 19, 2018, signed by the Prime Minister, Philemon Yang, appointed 18 senior officials in the same Ministry.
In his speech, Minister Elanga Obam recalled that President Biya created the Ministry on March 2, 2018, and he was given the honour to head it.
He said, at the technical and managerial level, it is a response to the coherence and optimisation need of local governance; a symbol of accelerating the capacity building of democratic administration of decentralised collectivities regarding policy and, economically, a better consideration to foster local development of the country.
