A young man is reported to have attempted to do away with his life after breaking up with his girlfriend in Buea, South West region of Cameroon.

Reports say that having not digested the idea of a separation with her, he drank a bleaching chemical to kill himself and later on tried to strangle girl.

The police intervened and he was arrested and taken to the hospital for medical care.
