The 2018 / 2019 Coffee Season was launched in Bankim in the Manyo Banyo Division, Adamawa Region this week.

During the event, stakeholders noted great improvements in the sector though local consumption is noticeably low.

Between the 2016 / 2017 season to the 2017 / 2018 season, coffee production in Cameroon witnessed a 24.9% increase.

Statistics from the Ministry of Trade however indicate that the total volume of coffee processed fell from 1.503 tonnes during the 2016 / 2017 season to 962 tonnes in the 2017 / 2018.

As the Ministry of Trade targets the boosting of local processing of up to 600.000 tonnes annually by 2020 it is time to step up coffee consumption by Cameroonians.
