13 nursing mothers and over 10 newborn babies are forced to sleep on a bare floor at the Yaounde Central Hospital.

The 13 women and their 11 babies, according to Emmanuel Ntonga, SDF regional Chairman for the Centre, are being kept there for lack of funds after each having caesarean delivery. The women were unable to pay the the 300.000frs needed for each delivery. The hospital management is yet to react to the allegations but government has since put the cost of caesarean delivery at FCFA 40,000. The SDF official has launched a campaign calling for free caesarean delivery for women in Cameroon.
