The Minister of Secondary Education Nalova Lyonga has ordered secondary schools in the country to open treasury accounts ahead of the 2018-2019 academic year.

In a release addressed to all Regional and Divisional Delegates of Secondary Education as well as principals of schools, students will henceforth pay their tution and examination fees by electronic means.

“School principals are accountable for these operations which require that each school should have a treasury account for the transfer of the said fees,” Nalova Lyonga said in a press release.

This decision follow the signing of a convention last month in Yaounde between the Ministry of Secondary Education and some financial and mobile telecommunications institutions on the payment of tuition and examination fees.

These fees will henceforth be paid through these institutions to avoid cases of school officials mismanaging the funds as has been the case in the past. The Minister of Secondary Education has warned whoever goes against this provision will be subject to subsequent sanctions.
