Morocco will be looking to record their first ever victory against Cameroon when both sides face off later this evening in Casablanca in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

A win for either side will send them top of the group and most preciously for Morocco who need to book their place for the tournament next year in Cameroon.

For Cameroon head coach Clarence Seedorf, it will be another test to see his players and assess his group as he continues to build a squad capable of retaining their title on home soil next year.

Though Cameroon go into today’s match without the pressure of playing for a qualification ticket, Seedorf maintains the challenge of topping the group should be an extra motivation for his players.

“For us, every match is a preparation for the CAN. We know we are qualified already but we want to finish top of the group because that is the only mentality (the players) should have and of course we know we play against a very strong team in Morocco,”Clarence Seedorf said.

Apart of topping the group, Cameroon will have as extra motivation to maintain their unbeaten record against the Atlas Lions of Morocco.

All 11 matches between the two sides have ended in seven wins for the Indomitable Lions and four draws.

Today’s game will rekindle memories of the 1988 Afcon semi final in Casablanca where a Cyril Makanaky goal booked Cameroon’s place into the finals on their way to lift the trophy.

Thirty years on, the game is still fresh in the minds of the home public who will want to finally get one over their football nemesis.

However, Cameroon coach Clarence Seedorf is not looking into the record books and is rather focused on the crop of talents at his disposal.
