The curtains will be drawn this weekend on the Menchum sports and cultufral tournament at the Yaounde military stadium.

Organised by elites of the Division, the month-long tournament will come to a close  with the football final on Sunday August 19 between Fentoh FC of Weh and and Aghem FC. Both teams sailed to the final after edging out Bafmeng United (3-2) and Three Corners 11 FC (after post match penaties).

Trophies will be handed to the winners of the various competitions with Aghem FC set to lift the Handball trophy after defeating Dzem Usu ladies (9-6) last on Saturday in the final that was played in the presence of the Minister
Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of the Supreme State Audit office and that of the
Minister of Sports and PhysicalEducation.

Before Sunday’s final, there would be a cultural day on Saturday August 18 at 9am, beginning with a symposium on peace and unity at the Yaounde National museum. The symposium will be followed by an exhibition of cultural dishes and cultural dance competition.

The initiator of the Menchum Sports and Cultural tournament, Ndzo Celestin has praised the conduct of the actors all through the tournament and expressed his gratitude to all those who turned out to make the initiative a success.

“This is an initiative that was backed by the need to preach peace and unity first amongst the elements of Menchum division and secondly between us from Menchum and our host, the people of Yaounde where we are residing. So we think, we have succeeded and the credit goes to everyone,” Ndzo Celestin said.
