The leader of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, Professor Maurice Kamto is set to address Cameroonians later this evening on the measures taken by the government of Cameroon to tackle the Coronavirus pandemic, sources within the party have said.
Last week, Kamto criticised Cameroon’s President Paul Biya for staying mute in the face of the pandemic and gave him a seven-day ultimatum to address the situation or he will give Cameroonians the route to follow.
With the expiration of the seven-day mandate without Paul Biya, Kamto will now be speaking in the hours ahead but it is not clear whatmeasures he wants to give concerning the Coronavirus.
Since his ultimatum last week, the government of Cameroon announced that the Head of State had ordered for the creation of a solidarity fund with FCFA 1 billion for a start. This move has been followed through by some billionaires, notably Baba Danpullo and Sylvestre Ngouchinge who have donated to the fund as part of their contributions to help fight the Coronavirus in Cameroon.
