The Head of State Paul Biya on Wednesday signed a decree extending the mandates of Members of Parliament and councillors for 12 months.

This is one of the ten laws promulgated by the Head of State on Wednesday after they were adopted during the just ended June parliamentary session.

The bill takes effect from October 24, 2018 and will run till October 2019 when the next municipal and legislative elections would take place.

This therefore clears the way for the Presidential election on October 7, which would now be the only election set to hold in Cameroon later this year after the Senatorial elections.

On Monday, the Head of State Paul Biya convened the electoral corps for October 7, 2018 with candidates disposing of ten days to drop their files.
