The Chairman of the Social Democratic Front Ni John Fru Ndi has criticized acts of violence of members of the security and defence forces on innocent civilians.
Ni John Fru Ndi was speaking on Sunday at the Commercial Avenue Grand Stand after a teacher reportedly burst to the scene in tears after receiving beatings from soldiers.
Che Loveline, a nursery school teacher and some of her colleagues were stopped on their way as they headed to the ceremonial ground by soldiers.
“We were told to lie down by the soldiers but we told them we were going to march. They told us they were not out to joke and shot in the air before we lied down and the beat me mercilessly on my buttocks,” the teacher narrated.
The Chairman said these are attitudes that only frustrate the local population and called on the military to stop all acts of intimidation.
To him, these actions will instead kill the spirit of those who want to bring real in the present situation.
