An Ivorian army position in the north of the country near the border with Burkina Faso has been attacked in the early hours of Thursday, leaving several people dead.According to a military source “the position of the Ivorian army located in Kofolo (140 km from Ferkessedougou) on the road to Kong, was attacked “around 04:00 GMT.

“We have registered several victims in our ranks. There are deaths and injuries, but we are in the process of cross-checking the information. We cannot tell you more,” the same source told APA.

The source said it is still unclear if terrorism is to blame for the attack.

A few days ago, a terrorist plot was foiled in the far north of Cote d’Ivoire thanks to cooperation between the Ivorian and Burkinabe armies.
