It is the backdrop of the 8th edition of the cinema fair dubbed First Short. A festival which is also a competition grouping cinama students.

From April 13 to 17, Yaounde will host the 8th edition of the cinema festival known as the Yaounde pan african festival of schools’ movies, First short. It is under the theme , ‘Cinema and new media’.

The event aims at appreciating and promoting films produced by students. But also, serve as a workshop to enhance producing, directing, and acting capacities of these students.

According to Césaire Moute, the brain behind the project, it is necessary for film makers to use the opportunity brought in by the digital facilities likely social media. He says, it is an important tool which can be used to produce, promote and distribute movies.

The issue relays mainly on its usage. That is why, all along the festival, a masterclass is scheduled to take place. Rostand Nya, a marketing specialist and digital strategist is the one invited to hold it. The organising committee underscores that the masterclass will centered personal branding that is how to make use of various social media in order to promote and sell one’s image.

The First Short festival this year will also expand itself to secondary schools so as to get in touch with young lovers of cinema. The objective to enhance their knowledge on cinema and framed their choices for those wishing to evolve in the domain. They will have the opportunity to participate at a master class of talented actrice, Orgelle Kentsop nicknamed Mami Ton. On Thursday, April 14, she will share her more than 20 years experience in acting with her fans, youths and other actors.

Prior to that, will be opening ceremony of the festival. Chaired by the minister of Arts and Culture, Pièrrre Ismaël Bidoung Mkpatt, it will take place at the Sita Belle Hall on Wednesday, April 13.
