The National Union of Teachers of Higher Education, dubbed SYNES, have embarked on four day strike action against poor working conditions.

In a press release made public today, the teachers’ union denounced the public delays in payment of teacher’s bonuses, delay in treatment of files, non payment of research bonuses among others.

In the release, SYNES exhorts teachers in all state universities to stop all academic activities and observe the strike from Tuesday July 24 to Saturday July 28.

SYNES equally urge the authorities to organise a meeting to reactivate the triennial plan of improvement of setting the teacher-researcher position.

In the end, the union advised teachers to remain resolute and wait till October 2018, the time given for the government to heed their plight.
