The pan-African bank, Ecobank with operations in 36 countries across the continent, has appointed Gwendoline Abunaw as Ecobank Cameroon chief executive officer.
Gwendoline Abunaw is a highly experienced banker who has had a long and successful career with several banks. She joined Ecobank Cameroon in 2003 as account manager in the corporate department for a year and has served the bank in several capacities since then.
She is a banking and finance graduate from the University of Buea and has an MBA in finance and a bank award from the prestigious London metropolitan University in England.
Gwendoline Abunaw began her professional career in August 1998 as an information analyst in the administration-credit department at Cameroon’s Standard Chartered Bank and served in that capacity until August 2001.
Gwendoline Abunaw’s determination and hard work skyrocketed her moves from account manager to senior-grade resident vice president at Citibank. She later joined ECOBANK Cameroon again in February 2011 as director of big enterprise. She was appointed administrator on Ecobank Cameroon’s Board in May 2014 and in July 2015 she was selected as chief executive deputy officer of Ecobank Cameroon.
Abunaw’s April 27 appointment as Ecobank Cameroon’s CEO is proof of her prodigy and ability in delivering the goods, leading and contributing to the economic and financial advancement of the financial institution in the sub region.
