At least three gendarmes were on Tuesday attacked by unidentified gunmen.
According to reports, the incident occurred when gunmen attacked a gendarmerie station in Wum, a locality in Menchum division, North West region of Cameroon. Two gendarmes secured heavy injuries on the spot while the gunmen attacked another officer on the Wum-Bamenda road.
Wum has since Tuesday been placed on red alert given the recent events. The town has experienced repeated violence relating to the on going crisis. On August 18, a police officer was murdered by suspected separatists. The victim was beheaded.
