Calm has returned to the locality of Mutengene in the South West Region after security was beefed up following the killing of a gendarme officer by unknown men.
The gendarme officer, Ngankeu Robinson was killed by unknown men who attacked a gendarmerie control post in Mutengene around a popular area called the “Big Mop” market while another gendarme officer was seriously injured and is presently receiving treatment in a medical facility in Douala.
Ngankeu Robinson was supposed to wed on June 30 in Yaounde before he was killed by the armed men who later made away with weapons.
The incident came just 24 hours after the government revealed in a document that 84 security forces have been killed in the North West and South West Regions of the country since the escalation of violence in that part of the country.
