At least four gendarme officers have been killed in Esu, Menchum Division of the North West Region of Cameroon, sources have confirmed.

The first attack was carried out on three  gendarmes by armed men on Saturday at a checkpoint in the locality before they were killed and their weapons carried away.

Their commander was on his parted targeted at a local hotel by the armed men who proceeded by killing him in a latest series of attack carried out on security officials in the area.

Last week, at least five gendarme officers were injured in a series of seperate attacks carried out in Wum by armed men while a police office was beheaded at a checkpoint point in Wum less than a month ago.
