Four persons have been arrested in Santchou, West region of Cameroon for allegedly trafficking pangolin scales, ivory and other elephant parts.

The Gendarmerie brigade in Dschang conducted a jointed operation with the Santchou and Penka Michel Wildlife Control Posts to nab the men who was about to traffic the parts. The operation was also carried out with the help of h the technical assistance of a wildlife law enforcement support body, LAGA.

The four, a lady amongst them reportedly transported the parts in a bag and were about concluding their operations in the black market when they were nabbed.

The four men are behind bars and have since been charged with illegal possession and commercialisation of parts of protected wildlife species and the killing of endangered species.
