The Dieudonné Happi-led team will have to spend another six months at Tsinga in order to manage affairs and conduct elections that will lead to the election of a new executive bureau at the helm of Fecafoot.

However, for the election to take place, certain measures and dispositions have to be put in place by the Government of Cameroon, according to Mossengo Veron Omba, FIFA’s Director of Development in charge of Africa and the Carribeans.

One of such measures is the amendment by parliament of the 2011 law governing sports activities in Cameroon. In addition, the forensic audit that started at Fecafoot on Monday has to be completed before the normalisation committee can proceed.

« The forensic audit is not particular to Cameroonian football. This is a process FIFA conducts when there is a normalisation committee… this is one of the activities to be carried out before the (FECAFOOT) elections » Mossengo Veron Omba said.

« Secondly, the Cameroonian law on sports that was supposed to be modified in November but it’s not the case. We met the Sports Minister this morning who assured us that his office will submit this to the next session of parliament(March). »

The new mandate of the normalisation committee is expected to end on August 31, 2018.
